Music is a part of his soul…it is a part of his identity. DJ RELL, a Bronx-born, Long Island-raised DJ, was born into a family of music lovers. From Motown to Funk, Soul to Hiphop, Rell’s exposure to a wide range of music and a young age helped him to develop an affinity for music representative of several generations. After tagging along with his older cousin to a music studio, Rell was first introduced to, and fascinated by the art form that is deejaying, and has been hooked ever since.Rell turned his fascination into his passion when he acquired his first pair of turntables as a Christmas gift, at the age of 18. Shortly after relocating to Los Angeles in 2005, Rell became a student at the Scratch DJ Academy to perfect his skills and technique. After completing every class that Scratch DJ Academy had to offer, Rell’s skills were so impressive that he was asked to become a Teaching Assistant. Simultaneously, Rell also enrolled at the Musician’s Institute and gained experience as a Recording Engineer.In September 2007, DJ Rell released his first mixed tape titled “That Vibe”. This first endeavor impressively showcased Rell’s signature style—seamless blends that join different tracks together to create a mood that is altogether soulful and sexy. DJ Rell’s versatility is unparalleled, as he is able to rock clubs and get dance floors moving while spinning a wide range of music. He has been heard at Hollywood hotspots such as: Area, LAX, Les Deux, Starshoes, Joseph’s, Forbidden City, Miyagi’s, Level 3, Aqua Lounge, Little Temple, 86, King King and the El Rey.Always one to give back to the communities that have sustained him, Rell has spun for various charity events, most notably, the Lupus Foundation’s “Butterflies over Hollywood” in September 2007 at the famous El Rey Theatre.
