I started getting into production around middle of 2006, I was real shit when i started so i looked for help.. I came across this forum www.serious-sounds.net And asked how i could improve my style, 1 of the members said "You cant improve a style until you have 1".So i set out to find what styles suited me, I came across an array of genres and couldnt decide, I started off in Trance (like Tiesto), I just didnt like production it because of all the arps and stuff, Blablabla a few genres later i came across Hard Trance/ hands up hardstyle and i fell in love lol. I listened to some Rob mayth, Cacada, Renegade Masterz and alot more and realised, thats the genre i want! So i started to learn basic beats then the way a song should be layed out and so on.. Some1 told me that more reverb can mean a fatter sound, so for the next month all i did was mess around with my Vanguard synth on fruity loops and manipulated the preset sounds.. it gave me a real understanding to how synth software works, but to hell with synth software im movin on to hardware in the next few months to produce some real nice sounds, I still havent learned how to master the track properly but im getting there!
