The Hollywood Guitar Duo is Scott Morris and Isamu Nakashio. The two began playing together in 1999 at Benjamin Verdery’s Maui Festival in Hawaii. In 2001, Mr. Nakashio moved to Los Angeles from New York and they began rehearsing together fulltime. The duo immediately started performing concerts to very enthusiastic audiences. Rectials include the NAMM Show at the Anaheim Convention Center, Guitarra Del Mar’s “Guitar Nights†in Pasadena, CA, the LA Harbor College Concert Series, Ventura Guitar Society, Santa Ana College Recital Series, Cerritos College Campus Theatre, Fullerton College Recital Hall, and many others.Their self titled debut cd, Hollywood Guitar Duo (JDT 3106) was released in 2003 by Eroica Classical Recordings an contains music by Takemitsu, Brahms, Mozart and Domeniconi. Their performance of Mozart’s Adagio from the Viennese Sonatina No. 3 is currently a popular ring-tone from Verizon Wireless.SCOTT MORRIS began playing the guitar at the age of nine. He gave his New York solo recital debut at Carnegie hall in April of 1998 and has since performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including recitals in Beijing and Shanghai China in 2005. He earned degrees from the USC Thornton School of Music, Yale University, and Claremont Graduate University and holds diplomas from the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria, and the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California. Scott spent three summers studying at the Aspen Music Festival with Sharon Isbin. His main teachers have been William Kanengeiser, Scott Tennant, Jack Sanders, Pepe Romero, Ben Verdery, and Sharon Isbin.He has several solo recordings available on Eroica Classical Recordings: Invocation (JDT 3030) and Danza (JDT 3226). Scott is currently signed with Centaur Records, Inc and will release an all Paganini recording in the summer of 2007. He is the Convention Director for the “2007 GFA International Convention and Competition†and Artistic Director for the “Dominguez Hills Guitar Festival and Competition†at California State University at Dominguez Hills, where he is the Coordinator of Guitar Studies.ISAMU NAKASHIO has performed throughout the U.S., Japan Canada, and Europe, including his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall in February of 1998. He is a former student of guitarists such as David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, David Leisner, Fredric Hand, Sharon Isbin and Benjamin Verdery. Isamu has a bachelor's degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston, and studied at the Mannes college of Music in New York and Yale University from which be holds two master’s degrees of music in performance. He also has four diplomas from Mozarteum summer academy in Salzburg, Austria.Isamu currently lives in Orange County, California and is a faculty member at both Cerritos and Santa Ana Community College.
