About Me

Hiya, I'm John Pye "JohnHPye" and I'm the Managing Director of Colossal Realms Limited, a start-up video/computer game development studio, hard at work. We're currently working on our first title, codenamed: Tactical Enforcement. It hasn't officially been announced and no press releases have been made yet as we're trying to keep the lid on for as long as possible. A small batch of Colossal Realms T-shirts have now been produced. The Tactical Enforcement T-shirts will come in the future.My hobbies are playing pool, photography, games (playing and developing) and just socializing with friends. I have a great sense of humor and love to have a laugh. I find my dad drunk on red wine pretty amusing anyway. People often say I look like my mum but I'm actually very similar to my dad in lots of ways, especially my personality. I try to be an nice as possible to everyone I know and meet, without exception, probably because I'm soft but I look upon it as a positive. I'm generally very happy with life, of course there are things I'd like to change and can't but I always find a way. I've been described as determined but I've never thought of myself that way, I just get on with things and take everything in my stride. Nothing phases me.My favourite games are; Final Fantasy VII/X/-2, The story lines are incredible and the music is so emotionally involving. Half-Life 2, An incedible single player FPS. Tomb Raider [series], Great action/adventure games. Metal Gear Solid, created a new genre for games. TimeSplitters 2, The best multi-player game ever (TS4 please be as good). Grand Theft Auto 3, The original [3D] crime simulation game. Halo, launched the XBox by itself.*Friends* I have msn, please message me if you want to add me. I'm now on FaceBook!

Music:

I really like 80's Disco and Modern Dance. I can't stand rap/R'n'b (in it's current form. What happened to the blues?), it doesn't even have any technical merit for me to appreciate. Apart from that, I can listen to anything.

Movies:

Shawn Of The Dead is so cleverly written and so well directed/produced, it has to be my one of my favorites.I like RomComs because they always make you feel good.Anything done by Pixar: I actually use the same tools for game development as they do for their films. They use NURBS instead of polygons though but one day I too will use NURBS, just as soon as you all upgrade your computers.

Television:

Emmerdale, Corination Street, Mock The Week, Blackadder, Red Dwarf, Farther Ted, Scrubs, Have I got News For You, Room 101, Bremner Bird and Fortune. I can't stand those "reality" shows - WHO's reality is that!?

Books:

The last fiction book I read was a fair while ago. I'm very creative myself and don't read for pleasure, just to gain knowledge. That's why I've read all those game development books in the past year or so. Plus the epic amounts of documentation, tutorials and general gaming information (market research) that I read.*Updated*Just finished The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. An near perfect summary of Religion. About to make a start on two other books by him: Climbing Mount Improbable and The Blind Watchmaker.

Heroes:

No single person is my hero, I have my own story. I really like the work of Pixar Studios (Monsters Inc) and Square Enix (Final Fantasy series).
