An avid student of the drums since his early childhood, Tomi Salesvuo has embellished his studies at the jazz department of the Sibelius Academy with private lessons in the USA and Germany. On these trips he has had the chance to study with masters like John Riley and Billy Hart.......I played with......
International collaborations with the likes of Wayne Krantz, Jim Beard, Anders Jormin, Madeline Eastman, John Surman, Marc Bernstein and Nils Landgren have also played an important role. Locally Salesvuo has played in the following groups: XL, Bitter Sweet, How Many Sisters, Zone, the UMO etc. Of these projects perhaps the most notable is the bold progressive/jazzrock ensemble XL. Salesvuo is featured on all XL releases: 'XLent' (1995), 'Jukola' (1998), 'Jeti' (1999), 'Live Ballet' (2001) 'Surreal' (2002) and ..Visual.. (2003).......â€To play the drums with energy and dynamics, to make music that happens here and now, and with musicians without genre frontiers, is one of my foremost missions, challenges and dreams in life! It is heavenly to find yourself at gigs and concerts making music with talented people and reaching your own potential.â€......Now days Tomi teaches reculary at North Karelia University of Applied Sciences(Joensuu) and Palmgren Conservatory (Pori).Currently Salesvuo has being in studio with one of his bands "Suomi-Solmu" and keeping his chops up by performing with the likes of How Many Sisters and Bitter Sweet.......
