The Philosophy
We craft our clothes by infusing them with great energy, great quality, and great aesthetic. We combine those with our rock and roll roots - born from the Blues, Elvis, and the English invasion, and made for rock royalty. We are not inspired by rock and roll-- we are rock and roll, and it is instilled in our jeans, tees and leathers.
As many rock and rollers, we have embraced much of the philosophy, aesthetic and simplicity of the Orient. We believe in “good energy†or “good Karmaâ€. Karma is the sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing, and will do. Any kind of intentional action, good or bad, whether mental, verbal, or physical, is Karma. All of our good actions constitute “good Karmaâ€.
We believe in “unparalleled qualityâ€. Quality is a term for which each person has his or her own unique definition. To most of us, quality means that which is free of imperfections and defects that detract from an object’s beauty. Quality is hard to define, but we feel the essence of Quality is “keeping your promise†and being “true to who you areâ€.
We believe in the aesthetic of “Made to be Destroyed†™. This encapsulates our adherence to the idea that beauty is impermanent and imperfect. We build beauty from the inside out, from the bottom up. The essence of our clothing is found in its simplicity and honesty. It is all of the small details that form the complete whole. We find that the patina of beauty comes with age and serenity. We pay homage to the vintage roots and old time craftsmanship that are the heritage of our products.
The Icon
The DeHoghton icon reflects our life view. The word Ouroboros is a term that has been cross-pollinated from many different cultures. Our version is a male dragon and female dragon forming a circle by biting each others tail. It represents the cyclical nature of things, the eternal cycle of renewal, creation out of destruction, Life out of Death. It symbolizes totality, primordial unity, self-sufficiency, and the idea of the beginning and the end as being a continuous never ending cycle. The male and female dragons echo YinYang, the dual nature of the universe, and illustrate that opposites are not in conflict. Our dragon icon is a symbolic rendition of the eternal principles of life that are embedded all cultures and civilizations.
