My Cousin I Bid You Farewell

About Me

My Cousin I Bid You Farewell are from Glasgow in Scotland and played their first gig together at the BBC on the 5th of November 2008. Despite having only been together for a few months, and with no more than a handful of shows under their belts they are already busy recording and planning to start work on their debut LP this year. Described as having "a strange, magnetic charm" and having "successfully negotiated the tightrope of making credible pop music it is no surprise that My Cousin I Bid You Farewell, five guys with a penchant for The Boss, have already been compared to a "restrained Arcade Fire". Other sources cite My Cousin I Bid You Farewell as an "incredibly promising young talent." and that singer Jonathan Sellar has "constructed remarkable songs which are in equal parts catchy and haunting." "‘The Contented Hearts’, ‘What We Are Eating Tonight’, ‘Neverland’ and ‘Style And Grace’ are all faultless. They show courage, sinuous talent and above all honest emotion." However it has also been noted that they have the "most infectious guitar riffs this side of Britpop" so you might just have to see them live for yourself to decide who is telling the truth.MCIBYF UPDATES ON TWITTERMCIBYF DOT COMMCIBYF ON FACEBOOK MCIBYF Mailing List *

Sounds Like:"...with his rich baritone, Sellar himself brings a darkness to the stage that has shades of the Velvet Underground at their peak. Yup, we've got a good feeling about My Cousin I Bid You Farewell and expect to see and hear much more of them this year."DAVID CUMMINGS"My Cousin I Bid You Farewell have a strange, magnetic charm that makes us extremely excited indeed. Singer Jonathan Sellar has a voice that is unmistakably and uniquely his own, while his band's music sounds like a restrained Arcade Fire"THE POP COP"My Cousin I Bid You Farewell have successfully negotiated the tightrope of making credible pop music. Somehow the band have constructed remarkable songs which are in equal parts catchy and haunting. I wholeheartedly suggest you check them out, they will melt your heart."RE-UNION GCUSA"‘The Contented Hearts’, ‘What We Are Eating Tonight’, ‘Neverland’ and ‘Style And Grace’ are all faultless. They show courage, sinuous talent and above all honest emotion."PodcART"Debut single Neverland has some of the most infectious guitar riffs this side of Britpop and an anthemic feel courtesy of Sellar's distinctive vocals and skill for penning a neat set of lyrics. The anthemic feel is leant further weight by some rather huge, sweeping piano parts on B-side The Contented Hearts and it all ads up to an incredibly rousing whole, with a pop/rock sound that's completely untypical of bands from Glasgow. The other two tracks on their space are equally strong, leaving us feeling like we've just stumbled across an incredibly promising young talent."LIMBO"They hit that elusive note of sadness and stay there in a sustained dream. The voice is in the comfort zone but threatens epic. A weighty album is hiding in this gentle clamour."RAMPAGE
