"FACETS:
The George Brown College
2007 Jewellery Arts Graduate Show
Harbourfront Centre is pleased to present FACETS, an exhibition and sale from the next wave of graduates from the Jewellery Arts Program of George Brown College. After three years of specialised training, this group of graduates presents unique works created through ancient techniques and contemporary design technology.
The young jewellery makers present the many facets of this dynamic and creative art form, from the hand skills of goldsmithing to the digital skills of computer modelling; from traditional precious metals and gemstones to alternative materials like wood, plastics and found objects.
George Brown College was established in 1967. The Jewellery School is Canada's leading training institution for both creators and technicians. The focus of the programme is on goldsmithing skills essential to a career in the industry, and to advance technical skills as well as to foster individual expression and creativity.
This year, George Brown College celebrates its 40th anniversary. The Jewellery School celebrates with a new group of jewellery graduates that continue a long line of alumni who have given Toronto some exceptional jewellery makers and trades people over the past four decades.
This annual exhibition and sale is an excellent opportunity to meet the emerging jewellers, see new directions in Canadian jewellery and support Toronto's vibrant local arts community." Bounty, Contemporary Canadian Craft Shop
