About Me

Alfred Lord Tennyson the fourth of twelve children to George and Elizabeth Tennyson, was born August 6, 1809, at Somersby, Lincolnshire. Tennyson took an early interest in writing and producing poetry. At age five Tennyson wrote his first lines of verse and a poem at age eight. Tennyson along with his brothers Frederick and Charles published a poetry book in 1827, Alfred was eighteen at the time. It wasn’t until Tennyson studied at Cambridge University and joined “The Apostles” where he met his best and lifetime friend Arthur Henry Hallam, that he began to produce numerous as well as very successful poetry such as “Poems by Two Brothers”. Alfred Tennyson also lived with fear when it came to his health he came from a family who suffered from alcoholism and mental illness. At times later on in his life, Tennyson checked himself into mental institutions when he had a fear of relapsing like his brothers. After many hardships throughout his lifetime, losing family etc. Tennyson married Emily Sellwood they had two children. He continued to write successful (some) award winning pieces such as “In Memoriam” and “ Idylls of the Kings” among many others until his death in 1892 Alfred Lord Tennyson died due to influenza on Oct. 6, 1892. fantasy layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com
