About Me

Johanna WernerBorn 1971 in Mariefred, Sweden. A small town of appr. 2500 inhabitants at the time, one hour from Stockholm.World-famous jazz-singer Alice Babs, kneeled laughingly,in front of Johanna, when she was 4, and started jodeling just for her. Johanna had said, when Alice was leaving her parents house: ”My daddy says you can sing, but I don’t believe that. You have been here now sooo long and you haven’t sung anything!”Johanna comes from a genuinly musical family. Her uncle was Lasse Werner (1934-92), one of Swedens most wellknown jazz-musicians in the 60ies and 70ies.In the early 80ies Johanna joined the newly founded Parish Girls Choir in Mariefred under the leadership of the ambitious and motivating cantor Bengt Norberg.Bengt Norberg turned it into a high-quality choir that later on took part in international contests with good results. But with the first generation of girls he arranged a concert-tour to Germany, Holland and Belgium. Many of the girls in that choir became professional singers and/or musicians, like Johannas play-mate Lisa Ekdahl (EMI) and Meja (Sony) both well-established international pop-stars. Also Anna Norberg, internationally reputed flautist. For five years in the 90ies, Johanna lived in San Francisco, were she studied singing for Sharman Duran. In 2000 she moved back to Sweden were she started a home-staging business (thereby introducing this phenomena in Sweden with exceptional result). At the same time she continued teaching flower-decoration at the Ingvar Strandhs Blomsterskola, as a free-lance.She has continued singing, mainly in gospel-choirs but also performed solo in music-clubs, singing at weddings etc. Beside singing, she also started composing her own songs.Like "I believe in you" on this site: Music and lyrics: Johanna Werner. The other two songs: "Goin' away": Music and lyrics: Stu Hamer and Mats Werner "A little song": Music and lyrics: Lasse Werner
