In the early 90s, after years of abusing highly toxic substances like punk, metal and new-wave , already resulting in the occasional playing of records at local parties , Kyulo starts mixing house and techno on a regular basis. He then goes through a drum’n’bass period and starts up a reggae sound in 1998, playing alongside many Belgian and a couple of UK and German sounds. Having witnessed one of Adam Freeland’s groundbreaking pre-millennium sets,he sets up Basswrkz in the beginning of 2000, thus establishing one of the first nu skool crews in Belgium.
From then 'till this very moment,he plays and pushes breaks in the widest variety of styles. Today's sets can vary from deep progressive to raw tear-out, funky or glitchy breaks to dubstep and whatever quality music fits in to fire up the party !
With Basswrkz he organised parties in Belgium and Holland with international artists,like Klaus “Heavyweight†Hill (UK/AUS - Title Fight/ TCR/ 2S2),Bionic/Sunz of Mecha (UK - Mechanoise/ BreaksFM) ,Nick Fury (UK/FIN - Children Of Dub) and LBJ (FIN/UK - Botchit); and programmed the breaks acts for Dour 2003 , including Yoof/Sunz Of Mecha (UK - Mechanoise/ BreaksFM), Jay Cunning (UK - Menu),Vanno & LiquidX (Essential/BE) and himself.
Throughout the years he has also shared line-ups with the likes of Tamsin (UK - London Breakz/ TCR) , Kosmik Neil (UK - Trigger), Radioactive Man (UK – Warp), Andrew Weatherall (UK – Warp) Miss Bliss (USA),Re:nald & Krewl, Ed & Kim and many others at places like Fuse, Musicafe, Decadance, H2O, Delite, Halles de Schaarbeek,Dour Festival,Forest Festival,Le Gazon, Backstage (NL), Bootleg DJ Cafe (NL), Saaqui (London, UK) just to name a few.
He’s a regular guest on both Belgian and Dutch FM radio and has hosted a string of online radio shows: Studentradio VUB (XL-Air)(2003-2004), Boups (2003-2005), Reload-Radio.com (2006-2007 exclusive dubstep show), CC-Radiostation.net (2006-2007), Lazerhothits.com (2007).
