Balm for the Troubled Soul

About Me

I have been around the block a few times. I have my wounds and many battle scars. I started out in a mixed up home Mother a Jew, Dad a Catholic, both drunks. I grew up in a very conservative part of the United States. I was drafted into the US Army and ended up in Laos in the 70's. Came back and became a Christian minister. Being a Reverend was a bad choice. 18 months later I left the ministry and became a mental health worker. Spent the last 34 year's helping people (a few thousand) with various addictive disorders to get well and happy in their own lives by making so simple yet profound changes. During that time I was on a spiritual journey but didn’t know it. I was seeing though the glass darkly. About 3 years ago I became well introduced to Buddhism and took refuge 18 months later for me that was the best choice. I am not looking for any sexual diversions. Cyber sex or what ever it is that the people get engaged in, it can never come close to the real deal. I refuse to accept the counterfeit if the authentic is possible. I find that in life I have never had any real enduring friend but keep trying. So perhaps I am not the best at relationships but I do like them for as long as they last and I have had 4 wonderful relationships in my life. As a matter of principle I accept the concept of impermanence in everything. When people ask me my relationship status I find the correct response to be "alone but not lonely and unavaiable". I hope someday that will change, I have no power over that, only time and circumstance may change that. But for this part of my journey I would not mind to invite you to share with me this earth walk I am now on.

I'd like to meet:

People who don't feel a need to be fixed, have a life, recognise they are on a spiritual journey whilst in this corporeal state who do not need to convert anyone. I want people who know that they are not perfect but know that daily we can become incrementally better, more enlightened people. I would love someone who would like to take this journey with me to step up.
