I love SO many things: yoga, birthing, women's spirituality, astrology, journaling, poetry, nature, food, serendipity, cats, architecture, travelling alone. I love adventure of all sorts, shapes and sizes. Going to the movies by myself. Looking at the sky, seeing the moon and stars and all the lovely planets that peer down upon us.
Oh, lordy, WHO? Ummmmm. . ..I love meeting people, even people who say the Buddha is bogus since Buddha is dead. I'd like to meet you.
These days I find myself listening to Talkdemonic, Neko Case, Cat Power, Gillian Welch, Deb Talan, Karsh Kale, Silversun Pickups, South, Bebel Gilberto, Lucinda Williams, and lots of others not sitting at the top of my brain this second. Standard faves: Finley Quaye, Beck, Beth Orton, Stereolab, Michelle Shocked, Lucious Jackson, Soul Coughing, Radiohead, PJ Harvey and on and on.
Thank God for Netflix. I am now overrun with fabulous movies. I'm so loving watching L.DiCaprio act lately. Is he for hire for private shows???? Anyone?
I try not to watch the evil thing, but if I do happen to get sucked in, I watch "Deadwood" and "Ugly Betty." I like good writing. Oh, yeah, and did I mention Al Swearingen? Hello-o-o, boys!
I just read Jonathan Safran Foer's "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"--it rocked my world. . .I love Oskar Schell!!!! I'm really into Mary Oliver's poetry, it makes my heart sing. I've been working on Frida Kahlo's biography. . .wow, what a life. It's been awhile since I read it, but a hugely influential read,"Eat, Pray, Love," by Elizabeth Gilbert. She's my hero.
I love other strong women and feminists--Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ani DiFranco, Adrienne Rich, Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Patty Larkin for knowing how to rock, Jodi Foster for her intensity, Jane Goodall for being so curious and perservering, Alice (in Wonderland) is a childhood fave as well as Harriet the Spy. The list goes on and on.
