Ramsey Jones was born & raised in Brownsville in the East New York section of Brooklyn. November,2 !965. Growing up with 2 brothers and 3 sisters, he always loved music from a very young age. He listened to Jimi Hendrix at the age of five after seeing Jimi's obituary on tv at the time. He also listened to the Beatles, James Brown, Motown, Funk, R&b & rock. Years later he soaked up the new wave music & hip hop that was burgeoning in the late 70's & 80's. Always a restless musician, he discovered 60's psychedelia & garage music in the 80's. Ramsey started to collect psych/garage records from the sixties. He also started collecting rare funk and jazz. Anything that had an exciting,interesting sound caught his ears.
In the late 80's, he hooked up with a band called Abstract whom played at various clubs in NY. The band were members of the Black Rock Coalition and stayed together for five years. During the time, Funkface were playing around and when Abstract broke up, he joined in 95'. The band is still together and kicking ass.
Ramsey has performed with Rah Goddess, Vernon Reid, Akebulan, Falu and appeared on Wu Tang's albums The "W" Iron Flag, Bobby Digital last 2 albums. Ramsey's younger brother was the late Ol' Dirty Bastard. RZA And GZA is Ramsey's first cousins. Right now I still freelance with various artist and Funkface is happening.
