Steve London

About Me

A native of Port Perry, Ontario, Canada, Steve London took an interest in music at an early age, playing piano, clarinet and oboe which became his instrument of choice.
Steve began his university career as a major in Engineering Chemistry at Queen’s University, Kingston. He soon discovered that music was still an integral part in his life and thus, began a concurrent degree which he completed in 1993. During this period, he played oboe and English horn with the Queen’s University orchestra, he became musical director for the university’s production of Kismet and he studied composition and conducting with Canada’s John Burge, Marjan Mozetich and Kristi Allik.
In 1995, Steve received a certificate of specialization in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television from the University of Southern California. This gave him the opportunity to study with such composers as Elmer Bernstein, Buddy Baker and Christopher Young, under whom he worked as an assistant after his graduation from university.
Steve now lives and works in both Los Angeles and Toronto. He records regularly with the Budapest Film Orchestra as a composer for the Munich-based SONOTON music library and has also written music for many projects including John Kricfalusi’s recent television show, "The Ripping Friends". He was nominated for a Gemini award in October 2002 in the category of “Best Original Score for a Dramatic Series” for this show. Steve has since written the score to the TV series "What It’s Like Being Alone" and has also written the score to the cult-hit horror film, "Shallow Ground", the score to the film "That Beautiful Somewhere" starring Roy Dupuis and Jane MacGregor and the score to the film "Seduced By A Thief" starring Sean Young and Ron Perlman,
Recently, Steve has just completed scoring the Sci-Fi Channel original horror film, "Decoys: The Second Seduction" with Corey Sevier, Kim Poirier and Dina Meyer and "Kaw", an independent horror film starring Sean-Patrick Flannery, Kristen Booth, Steven McHattie and Rod Taylor which will be released first theatrically in Japan and Germany and then on Sci-Fi Channel in the US in March 2007.
