I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I love rooftop parties in New York. I could eat sour cream on dirt...yes, it's that good. I laugh like its my business. My sense of smell is uncanny. Old married couples inspire me. Without a doubt, I'm one of the most fun people you know. I embrace change and run from it all at the same time... Wise people excite me, as do intellectuals. I have no hobbies (is that bad?). I adore followers-of-dreams, good writers, good cooks, family men, the laughter of children, the beach, margaritas, my friends, learning, listening, researching... I'm proud of being a G.R.I.T. (Girl Raised In the South), a teacher, a scholar, a faithful friend, a loving daughter and a child of God.

My Interests

Traveling, good eats, good deals,....

I'd like to meet:

People with University or College connections. I'm ready for full-time!

Music:

I enjoy just about EVERY genre of music....NO metal, blue grass or gansta rap...ew.

Movies:

Far too many to list. A well told story generally does my heart good. :)

Television:

The Chappelle Show (I know it's gone, but I haven't forgotten!) America's Next Top Model (good mindless entertainment). Family Guy, Best Week Ever, Celebrity Fit Club, and Reba.

Books:

I like to read anything that inspires me to be better and see the best in others. And certainly anything that will make me laugh or think or do both simultaneously. Eat, Pray, Love was my favorite book of 2007. Any suggestions for a good read, let me know.

Heroes:

My mom....and goal-setter-and-achievers.

R-I-S-K

The following poem is absolutely my favorite poem. I believe in it whole-heartedly and try to live by it the best that I can. I discovered this poem when I was in my early 20's and passed it out to...

Nobody's "Perfect"

It is only now in my early thirties that I am appreciating my status as a single woman. Perhaps it's because I live in one of the greatest cities in the world, so I am exposed to so many different t...

aM i LiViN' iT rIgHt?

Every few months or so, I find myself at the same place, asking the same questions.  It's my own personal version of a pre-midlife crisis...WHAT DO I WANNA BE WHEN I GROW UP?  WHAT AM I DOIN...

"And I said to myself...SELF..."

One of my favorite things to read is the end of Oprah Magazines, her monthly article entitled, "What I Know for Sure." Well, this blog falls along those lines. What this lady knows for sure is this: I...

Is it just me??

Do you ever wonder HOW you got to where you are?  Nope?....just me?  I know wherever you are is a direct result of choices you have made up to this point in your life.  My directio...

Stand in the Place Where you Live

Oprah says that she simply "stands in the space that God created for her." Did you watch her Legends ball?  Tear-jerker, right?  To see all of those women get to be honored in their lifetime...

It's a blessing to be a blessing

A good friend told me once that  "everybody wants (is waiting for) something."  It's true. You get one thing you want, but you are always on a quest for the next thing withou...

Don't it Go to Show you NEVER Know?!

There is a lyric from the first musical I ever performed in, Little Shop of Horrors, that says, "Don't it go to show you never know!"  And you never do.  There is a tree that grows in Asia.....

It's All Temporary

One thing in life is certain: change.  Things won't ever stay the same, neither will people for that matter.  Even as you read this blog you are getting older, hopefully wiser, going higher,...
