About Me

FREDERIK MEULYZER
Frederik Meulyzer (°1983) started studying music at the age of 11 at the communal music school of Wilrijk. Soon, music beheld a central position in his life, so he changed schools to a secondary art school (DE!KUNSTHUMANIORA) where he studied with Bart Defoort, Koen Liekens and Bart Van Caeneghem. At the age of 18, he enrolled at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp to be trained by Jan de Haas and Martijn Vink. In 2007 he graduated at the Lemmensinstituut under Dré Pallemaerts. He also attended masterclasses of Billy Hart, Dave Liebman, Stéphane Galland, Gary Peacock and Jim Black. Together with Lander Van den Noortgate, he set off the infamous Kili Kili concert series out of which many a band erupted: Bansuri Collectif, Trio Cachai, Trippel and Stijn Wauters Trio. Besides being a jazz drummer, Frederik also sets the groove at Slevensnevels (Dutch poprock) and Ruman (alternative rock).
