FEATURED PROJECTS:
TAG (u’rit)
TAG (U’rit): is a sound improvising trio of a unique order. Based in Jackson Mississippi, the group has come to represent a new catalyst for improvised music in the south with Support from the Mississippi Improvisation Alliance.THE RANDOM ELEMENT: The trio operates with an always-rotating additional member(s). This random element of a new member each show creates the impossibility of stagnation. Always fresh, new and unpredictable, even to the three constant band members.THE TRIO BASE: TAG gathers it’s name from band members William Thompson, Chris Alford, and Bruce Golden.
Thompson’s music is unique drawing from his experience as an interrogator in the current Iraq war and bandleader of WATIV. Pianistic shapes take on new direction of untold origins. Alford’s singing guitar playing has been crafted in both Mississippi and Chicago, having played with Ronda Richmond and Nekisopaya. Though his style and energy is rooted somewhere otherworldly. Bruce Golden is a staple of the Mississippi creative music world. Beyond description, he continues to work with George Cartwright (CURLEW), Rhonda Richmond (CASSANDRA WILSON), Lee Barber (the BARBERS), Evan Gallagher and Jeb Stuart (ARS SUPERNOVA/RAMESES LUKAS TRIO), Rob Cambre (ANXIOUS SOUND projects in New Orleans) and the MISSISSIPPI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.U’RIT: Past and future guest performers are always musicians of the highest caliber and only those who have developed their own unique voice to express through sound one moment in time. For booking contact:William Thompson.
