About Me
Born in Bajamar, Cortes, Honduras C.A. Started his musical career at a
early age, being that all his uncles, grandmother & grandfather are
musicians(as he explains they are the Musical Dinasty from Bajamar).
At the
tender age of five years old, Babylou started to play with what him and
his
friends call "conjunto de lata" or (musical instruments made out of
milk
containers, empty cans of paint etc). The first band he played with
were
Los Videos, then with Critica De La Vida and many others more. When
his
uncles and grandmother noticed that he had passion towards music, they
started to train him with electrical instruments. Ticani one of many
musician uncle started to teach him how to play the bass guitar and
Anty his
grandmother thougth him how to sing. In July 1982, Babylou for the
first
time gets-on on a stage with Los Videos and had a great experience with
a
big crowd. As the time went by, Babylou traveled to the United States
and
always with the passion towards music, he becomes one of the founding
members
of Kaligar Band, under the direction of Pedro Peri(Peter)(R.I.P.)
Babylou
was the bass and lead guitar player and singer, until the time that Peter
passed
away. The death of his cousin and director affected him so emotionally
that
he ended up enlisting in the United States Armed Forces(Army). During
his
time in the Army, Babylou would go to a recreation center to pratice
the
bass, lead guitar and piano. After three years in the army and absent
from
the stage, Babylou returns and reforms the band (Kaligar Band). This time he
is
the director. Under his direction the group retook its position(top)
among
the garifuna community. During that time, the band recorded three CDs
titled:1 Nuevo Amanecer 2 Cultura Y Religion 3 Unidos Por El Bien.
Those
famed CDs contained "hits" like: Peter, Bougua Nanigui, Keimon, Gueyena
Louba and Popuri(punta nanibey & waguguwa) to mention a few. Babylou
also
explains that he has had the privilege to work with other bands,
artists and
producers e.g. Garifuna Kids, Guiriga Impacto to name a few. As far as
artists he has worked with: Jimmy Suazo(R.I.P), Raul Chaves, Big
Junior,
Nuru, Emilio Nunes, Mike, Kafu Banton, Eddie Gregorio, Erika Martinez,
Super
Bueno, Victor Arzu, Linky Zapata among scores of others. Producers:
Edgardo
Santos(Bajamar Entertainment), Raymond Martinez(Garifuna Enterprise),
Henry
Ramos(R- Daniels Films) and Omar A. Guerrero(Risitos Entertainment).
Babylou
during his musical carrer, has traveled to many places. e.g. Belize:
Cayo
San Pedro, Dangriga & Belize City. Honduras: Puerto Cortes, Lima, San
Pedro
Sula, Tegucigalpa, Tocoa, La ceiba e.t. Babylou has trained many
people in
singing and playing instruments and therefore a lot of them look up to
him as a role model. Babylou has worked on a lot of projects such as: "LIMINI IBAGARI", "BABYLOU Y AMIGOS", "HONOR GARIFUNA" & many more.
