About Me
Hans Glawischnig has been one of the most in-demand bassists for a decade.
A native of Graz, Austria, he settled in New York City in 1992, after having
graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music, and received his
B.A. from Manhattan School of Music in 1994.
His credits include recordings and performances with Chick Corea, James Moody, David Sanchez, Ray Barretto, Ravi Coltrane, Kenny Werner,
Phil Woods, Brian Lynch, Bobby Watson, Dave Liebman and Maynard Ferguson, just to name a few. He released his debut recording 'Common Ground' in 2003 on the Spanish record label Fresh Sounds, followed by the EP 'Phoenix' in 2005.His compositions and arrangements can also be heard on recordings by Ray Barretto, Brian Lynch and Ken Hatfield. In 2006 Chick Corea hired Hans to paritcipate in the 'Spirit of Mozart tour, performing Chick's second piano concerto 'The Continents'.'Panorama', Hans follow-up CD to "Common Ground', will be released Jan 29 on Sunnyside Records and showcases Hans' original compositions featuring Miguel Zenon, David Binney, Rich Perry, Ben Monder, Luis Perdomo, Johnathan Blake, Antonio Sanchez and Marcus Gilmore. Chick Corea appears as special guest on 'Oceanography' and 'Panorama', the title track.
