Ahimsa Haven is an all breed, no kill, and non-profit animal rescue group based in Winchendon, MA. Ahimsa (pronounced Ah-HIM-sa) is a term from an eastern religion, which means "To do no harm, in thought or deed, to any living creature". Our mission is to find good homes for abused, abandoned, homeless and unwanted domestic animals.
We are a completely foster-based rescue; we don't have a shelter of our own yet. Everything is done by volunteers…no one gets a salary. Every penny raised goes to the animals. We’re always looking for people who would like to help with fundraising, transportation, and foster care.
One of our main goals is to raise enough money to build a shelter so that we may provide emergency medical care for animals in need, along with routine medical care for animals in our foster care program.
Since our incorporation in 1999, we have been successful in finding homes for over 750 animals, including ferrets, hamsters, chickens, ducks, and even a potbellied pig!
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization...all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Currently, we serve Winchendon, Leominster, Fitchburg, Gardner, Ashby, Ashburnham, Townsend, Rindge NH, Keene NH, and surrounding areas.
