About Me

With a lot of rap wanna-be's claiming to be the next "super group", there is only one group of rappers that actually have any weight to that audacious claim. They go by the name of The Block Family or Block Fam for short. Composed of rappers Casanova, A/Twon, HB, and Julius Ceaser (with subsiderary rappers waiting on the wings) they are set to mark a change in the rap industry particularly the International market.
Each member of "The Family" (or La Familia as the group is often referred to by members of the group or fans) hail from different areas of America. Being that they come from different backgrounds, they are able to provide different prespectives of life while maintaining the main focus of Block Fam... which is to provide "A" class music for fans. Most of the members of "La Familia" can trace their life to the harsh streets of Ghettoville, USA and remember when life wasnt as promising as it looks now.
Just a little over a year and a half ago Casanova, HB, and PCP capo/Block Fam Rep, Feezable, were looking at over 12 years each in trumped up robbery charges involving a Robbery 1, Assualt with a deadly weapon with the intent to harm, and possible gun charges. Just a year and a half and a few luxury SUV's later, Casanova looks back on the incident as a wake up call as to his future and the realities of what many Black/Black Latinos (American, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, Jamaican, Hatian etc) are still going through as a result of institutionalized racism.
In a interview by an online hiphop news site, Casanova talks about his ordeal which began in June 2005. "That wasnt my first brush with the law at all, I was all ways in trouble or under scrutiny by 'The Boys' ", a term used by the Fam refering to "cops", ".. and I was even in jail a couple of times over a crime I didnt commit and was later vindicated of",' states Casanova (Cas) as he sits in the mixing room at the studio he frequents, dubbed "The Block Lab". "I was just able to avoid alot of trouble because of me doing good in school and because of the teachers that admired me in class. They had no idea what I was doing outside of school. Hustlin', fightin' niggaz, jus cuttin a fool. If they did, I doubt they would've been so quick to help."
"But just going into this situation with me, Feez and HB, it looked like life was over. 12 years in the joint would effectiive ruin my life as I know it and I would be in and out of jail forever. They wanted me to snitch on them because they knew I had a bright future outside of this, due to the numerous essay contest I've won, The youth exchange programs and the fact that I was in college as a high school student. But, no matter what they threw at me, I knew that the concept of "Family" was stronger than anything. And if it meant doing time for something that we DIDN'T commit, just to stay true to that concept.. I was down for it." ..
They eventually beat the charges due to police corruption, lack of evidence, and a lying victim/witness. But that is a prime example of why "Family" is a word used with this collective of rappers. But because of the heavy street overtones in the group's image, it doesn't mean that everyone one in the group has lived a life of crime or were apart of the unfortunate pitfalls of urban society.
HB, as an artist, is the one who hasn't recieved much recognition on Myspace as far as musical accolades, due to his ever changing schedule. But ever as talented as the others in La Familia, he aims to bring a little more hiphop to the street genre and create his own lane he calls Street Hop. Influnced by Nas, Young Buck and Twista with a little bit of 50 Cent as far as being able to create catchy hooks, he is set to unleash a fury upon the industry, like a bat out of hell, untill his album drops late fourth quarter 2007.
Julius Caesar was born Julius William Brown III...he was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania where he stayed until he was 10..then he moved to various states & cities but settled in Lakewood Washington. He started writing songs and raps at the age of 9 but really got serious about it when he turned 12.
Pushing out mixtape after mixtape and freestyle after freestyle he was quickly known for his wity punchlines, raw flavor, and non-chalant "im fly get over it" attitude. Julius Caesar gives the meaning behind him choosing his name:
"I mean its like I'm embodying the soul and spirit of a true King who would do nething for his kingdom. Julius Caesar wanted what was best for Rome no matter if those in power around him wanted it. And thats how I feel I am now. Like I want whats best for BLOCKFAM no matter if those around me agree or not because to me its much more than just a label, its my Rome."
Julius Caesar is currently working on his final mixtape before he focuses all attention and soul on his debut album which will be called "Hail Caesar". His Mixtape is entitled "Center Of Attention" because he believes right now at this current time, all eyes are on him
Casanova, El Rey, as the world now knows him , is probably one of the most complete emcees in the group as agreed upon by his fellow members. His moniker El Rey, spanish for The King, was given to him by his fans and people around him his un canny ability to be a leader and trendsetter anywhere he goes. This great leadership skills he learned on the streets has proven its worth, from the school class rooms to his position now, as the C.E.O. of Block Family Records. His grasp of how to mesh street records, wit pop records, and make hit female and club songs without sacrificing his credibility as an artist is almost un-parallel in the industry today. Casanova (formerly known as "Madd Cazh"), who is also known as Fidel Cazhflow, Nova and Cas, is not new to the music industry. His current and past work show influnces of Fabolous, Lloyd Banks, Nas, Biggie, and 50 Cent, with a touch of Tego Calderon and Scribe. In 2004, he had a relatively moderate brush with international fame on a major label. Those dreams were soon crushed as the label, who suffered a flop of a highly anticipated hiphop artist, were unsure of how the wanted to deal with Cas, and soon he and the label parted ways.
After working most of 2005 (although he suffered minor setbacks due to legal ramifications) and most of 2006, he began to see the fruits of his labor. He began recieving checks from a certain label for contract work he did with them based on writing, and then came the luxury suv's and jewelery. Inspired by his recent success, he wanted to be able to share that with his band mates and thus he began the successful "Block La Familia" campaign on Myspace to spearhead the push of the group into the spotlight. With the Block in position to take over the International scene, Casanova began recieving heavy offers for his debut album, tentatively titled "Breathe Easy", which has been in the makings for the last two years.
With sure fire hits C.A.S.A.N.O.V.A. and Im Feeling You feat. J-Di, already getting plays across America, The U.K. and Australia, and an official single and video and several un-official music videos on the way, Casanova's buzz has done nothing but build more anticipation for The Block Fam as a team. With the prospect of a major change on the horizon of music, Casanova is prepared to help guide his label mates and surrounding team from obscurity into the lime light.
With the Block Fam being a team full of talented artists with their own style, be prepared to rock with them from here to the big stage. The limit is NOT the sky for the Block Fam....The limits are endless.
Holla Block
