Band Members: I perform mostly solo, but there are several talented musicians with whom I regularly associate. Among these are Greg Schrier and George Gregory, the respective bass player and drummer in my band, GOOD MEDICINE. I also perform occasionally with The Legendary Ted The Fiddler, the remarkable Guy Petersen, the lovely and talented Janet Parker, the ever-entertaining Mark Hansen and many others. So actually, bands kind of morph in and out for me. I like it that way.
Influences: My perception of Jesus has been a big influence on me. But don't let that throw you off. My perception of Jesus is much different that most people's. I'd be happy to discuss it with you, as long as you have an open mind. However, I'm sure this site means musical influences. Early on I was exposed to the music my parents had around. We had one of those console "hi-fi"s, with radio tuner and little album storage bin. It was filled with soundtracks to musicals, a few comedy albums from people like Bill Cosby, and various Christmas albums by people like Perry Como. I liked it all, but they also had some Nat King Cole which may have been the first stuff that really got me interested. I started piano lessons when I was 7, so I was also exposed to a lot of classical music and I loved that too. My first transistor radio, the kind with the single earphone, exposed me to much of the music of the late 50's and early 60's. Then THE BEATLES happened. They are absolutely the single greatest influence on my musical life. I appreciate and respect a wide range of artists, though, and continue to strive to educate myself musically, although I lean towards world music and the stuff you just don't get on the commercial airwaves, video or audio. I continue to create music in some capacity. It's when I feel most at peace with myself.
Sounds Like: Sounds like? Jeez, that's tough one. When I'm playing my own stuff, I'm kind of a cross between John Sebastian and Keb Mo. Yea, that's a little strange, huh?

The Great Divide

I'm regularly reminded of the divide in this country and how each side is completely convinced that they are right. With the impending campaign and election of a new president coming up, it's yet agai...

The Great Hereafter

The subject of life after death inevitably comes up from time to time. It seems there are as many opinions about what happens after bodily death as there are people. Certainly...

The Apocalypse 1

I figure it's time to start putting some of my thoughts about what might be coming down in words. Now that I think about it, I've been considering this whole "apocal...

The Good Life

When you really come down to it, life is good. I know for some people it sucks. I mean if you are born and raised in one of those horrific corners of the world where you never...

Notes from Beyond.

I was just looking through some old photo albums, looking for a particular picture, when I came across this. My mother, Margaret, was not often given to expressing her deeper feelings, but on the rare...

Merry Merry

OK. OK. Sometimes miracles do happen. In fact, they happen all the time. In fact, miracles are the norm. When the miracles stop, that's when you know something's wrong, and it's always some ego reacti...

wassamatta?

What matters? I mean, when you come right down to it, ultimately, what matters?" Sure you come up with the usual "well, my kids and my husband matter" or "my body matters" or "my word of God'' ma...

Moving on

How's the saying go? The only inevitability in life is change. Tina moved out about six weeks ago. The nastiness that led to the separation was, in retrospect, simply the inevitable action that was ne...

Summer Jobs

I didn't have a paper route like most of my peers when I was a kid. It seemed like a great way to make some money and I did fill in for my friend, Jim Wixted, occasionally, but I managed to make money...
