About Me

I like to think of myself as a nice guy. Not always nice, obviously, people can piss me off, especially ones that are ignorant to their surroundings, on a personal or global level. I'm not quite sure what I want out of life, but I don't see that as a problem, to quote the boys from Aerosmith, "Life's a journey, not a destination."
"If we are to survive, we must have ideas, vision, and courage. These things are rarely produced by committees. Everything that matters in our intellectual and moral life begins with an individual confronting his own mind and conscience in a room by himself."
~ Arthur Bancroft Schlesinger
"Of course, scientific research must always be confirmed and expanded on. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't take a strong study seriously in the meantime."
~ Amanda Schaffer
"I told them that it was important that they listen to what I had to say — theology, if it's relevant, has to be consistent with science. At the same time I was thinking, 'It doesn't matter what you have to say, because whatever theology has to say is irrelevant to science."
~ Lawrence Krauss
"On some great and glorious day the plainfolks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
~ H.L. Mencken (1880-1950)
"George W. Bush now finds himself in much the same position that Ford inherited when he took office in 1974 – preparing to serve out the unexpired two-year term of an extraordinarily unpopular president."
~ Bruce Reed
"For the past six years, the most prominent Christian in America has been the president. His belief is not of the 'God said it. I believe it. That settles it,' sort that fundamentalists embrace. Rather, Bush subscribes to a syllogistic doctrine of presidential infallibility: God works through Christians; I am a Christian; I have decided to do X; therefore, X is God's will."
~ Amy Sullivan
He's smarter than he looks, but he's a completely disingenuous fuck.
"And the fact that the big hitters in the deal game are Chinese, Saudi Arabian, Russian, and Indian remind us that while the United States is clearly the richest and most powerful nation on earth—in part thanks to globalization—we no longer have the field to ourselves."
~ Daniel Gross
"Locals claim that Hispanic immigrants refuse to assimilate. If that's true, it might be to their credit: Studies show, 'as immigrant children become more like Americans … they spend less time on homework, their blood cholesterol rises, divorce rates go up and levels of incarceration increase.'"
~ Alex Benenson
"This whole self-esteem movement is a little squishy for me. The, are you in touch with your inner child? I found a picture of him on a milk carton, go away. You know what you should do is get in touch with your outer adult. How 'bout that? I think that would help."
~ Bill Hicks
"It's just a ride, but we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that, and let the demons run amok, but it doesn't matter because... it's just a ride and we can change it anytime we want, it's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money, a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defense each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world which it would, many times over, not one human being excluded, and we can explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."
~ Bill Hicks
