Can you help me find my brothers?
My name is Lisa but my friends call me Chase, and I am looking for my two older brothers who were kidnapped by their father in New Jersey, over 40 years ago. My mother's name is Kathleen, her first marriage was to a man named Edward Hearne and they had two little boys Edward Christopher Jr. (Eddie) and John Vincent (Johnny). After the marriage ended she moved in with her mom and got a job at Newark airport an a receptionist, the boys were 2 and 3 years old. Edward came to her mother’s house one night and told her mom (the boys grandmother) that he was taking the boys to see Santa Claus.
My mother never saw her sons again.
This was over 40 years ago, and she still has never seen her sons. The police told her in the 60's that it wasn't considered kidnapping, since Edward was their father, and refused to help her.
I have started this myspace page, hoping that someone within this huge community might know something, or even know someone who knows something. It's a long shot I know, but if I have learned anything in my life, it's that the world is very small.
Sadly, my mother believes that this is somehow her fault and she has lived with this guilt for a very long time. She also believes that their last name may have been changed, so we're not entirely sure the last name will be Hearn, Hearne, Hern, or if it's still anywhere near the same. She wonders why they haven't come looking for her in all this time, but how could they? They wouldn't know her maiden name or the name she took for her second marriage, only her married name Kathleen Hearn or her maiden name which might be on their birth certificate. She thinks he may have told them that she died, or that she ran off and left them, and nothing could be further from the truth. A small part of her even thinks that they may not even be alive.
My hope is that I can find them before my mother's (and my!) time here is up. I believe this is the only thing she wishes for, but that somehow she has given up hope of ever seeing them again. Eddie and Johnny's pictures have always hung in our home and still hangs in her apartment today.
If Eddie or Johnny is reading this, I would like to say that no matter what you have been told in the past, you have this woman, who gave birth to you. She is your mother. She has cried many days and nights for you since you were taken away and her biggest wish is to one day see your faces again. You have another sister, besides me, her name is Paula. I have a daughter (16) and Paula has a daughter (14), both of your nieces.
Please contact me. I know it may be shocking or even unbelievable, but at least let us know that somehow you are alive and we can know that you are well.
Important info: Johnny was born Feb 27, 1964 and Eddie Jr was born June 10, 1962, both in Newark, NJ. We think Eddie Sr. b-day was Oct 1, and his middle name may have been George. His sister in law's name was Peggy, married to his brother James. He worked for Otis Elevator (NY) for many years. Barbara was their sister she had breast cancer and their mom Ann died from cancer also. There was also a sister married to a Bob Bendix.
