Hindle & Halliday

About Me

MyGen Profile Generator James William Hindle & Calvin Halliday started making music together at the start of 2006, trading songs between London and Glasgow. Hindle's move to Scotland solidified their musical partnership which has thus far seen them write and record a whole heap of new songs, along with reinterpretations of Hindle's solo work. They covered Jackson Browne's 'The Birds Of St Marks' for a collaborative single on Glasgow based Chaffinch Records, released in Spring 2007. They began recording their debut album as a duo in February 2007, the fruits of which should hopefully see the light of day before the end of the year. The record was produced by Neil Cleary and recoded by Gary Olson at Marlborough Farms, Brooklyn. Joining Calvin and James for the sessions were Vetiver/Espers sticksman and all round cool dude Otto Hauser, Zeke Healy who formerly played steel guitar for the Boggs and Neil Cleary on almost everything else!James William Hindle has previously released three albums on San Francisco based label Badman Recording Co; 'James William Hindle' (2001), 'Prospect Park' (2003) & 'Town Feeling' (2005). He has also released a mini album on Early Winter Recordings, 'Joshong' (2006). He has opened up for many bands over the years; The Shins, Devendra Banhart, Six Organs of Admmittance, Decemberists etc. He has also toured the US on three occasions, traversing the continent with long time musical pals and collaborators The Essex Green, The Ladybug Transistor and Of Montreal. His music has been featured in many TV shows, including The O.C., One Tree Hill, The Real World, Made, and Roswell. He also played guitar with Pantaleimon during 2005, playing shows with Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Antony & The Johnsons and Current 93"It’s not terribly challenging to venture a guess at what might make up James William Hindle’s record collection — some Nick Drake, the Red House Painters, Vashti Bunyan, maybe a few Bonnie Prince Billy LPs — but this folksinger, from Britain, synthesizes his influences into a sweet, lulling hum that manages to transcend its parts" New York Times Calvin meanwhile is a mysterious creature and plays his cards close to his chest. The more eagle eyed among you may recognise the young whippersnapper from various Glasgow bands.***This is the only James William Hindle myspace...so for the time being you can hear a few tracks from his solo records and occasional demo from the new LP***
