About Me

I grew up listening to African and West-Indian music. However, my background connected me to rap music and the hip-hop culture since I was 9. Rocked by the Kris-Kross era, I decides to write all my texts in english. I'm then 11 when I drop my first lines with a homey against our teachers and other whipping boys of the junior high. Meanwhile, zook music (the typical West-Indian music) diversifies on the waves and gives rise to a new interest, that I grab and takes me to my first personal productions. I then ride singing and musical realization. Thereafter, in the course of the 90's, the Boyz II Men will be the pushers to taking my singing as a musical tool in entirety. The Haitian-American group Fugees' take-off was seen as a long-term challenge to me : to sell records and represent my blackness. From that phenomenon, hip-hop flies off and artists such as Nas, Big L, Wu Tang Clan will consolidate my fasteners to this growing culture. My english grows up and leads me to write more. Rather R&B-linked in some phases, I propose three homeladies of my highschool to be their producer. I would make the beats with a multi-sound keyboard, write the lyrics in english and suggested tunes. I already sees myself rich Destiny's Child-way, the seminal group of the late 90's R&B, who has inspired me some good R&B beats. Growing older, I gets to turn toward more spiritual sounds as those of Common's, who is one of the precursor to the "Sun's Negative" vibe, such as Erykah Badu's, D'Angelo's, whom will boost my singing again. Nu-Soul then becomes the pro-Black-Americans' style I want/need to retranscribe ; matter of soul, my soul. More mature, more careful, I softly awakes my childhood's necessity to see my country, which leads me to produce beats exactly as how my soul connects me to over there.
