This year has been a busy one. She recorded a swinging version of Peggy Lee's classic "Fever" with saxophone phenomenon Jimmy Sommers. She hosted and sang for a holiday PBS special live from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. In her recent performance of classic rock and blues at the Music Box @ the Fonda in Hollywood, she received six standing ovations. In addition, she recorded her first meditation CD, Body, Breath and Mind, launched a new production company, Maybe It's Today Productions, and just released a new CD, A Playlist, a compilation of her favorite recordings of the past fifteen years.
Gloria has been thrilled to watch the Grammy Award-winning success of her son, Robin Thicke. Gloria notes, "From the time he was a little boy, he loved to sing and dance. He's worked for fifteen years as an artist, songwriter, and record producer. Seeing him onstage now, seeing him come to maturity as an artist and performer, has been a joy for me. She’s starred in musicals, movies of the week and television specials, and has hosted television shows and live events.
When her son Brennan was diagnosed with diabetes at age four, she created and self-published two volumes of the Days Of Our Lives Celebrity Cookbook. Those books, along with her recording A Shot in the Dark, raised more then one million dollars for diabetes research. She followed that success with two commercially published books, Kids, Food and Diabetes and Parenting a Child with Diabetes.Recently, MPress released her new book written with Dr. Timothy Gray, Living with Type 2 Diabetes: Moving Past the Fear. She promoted it on The View, and spoke of her long-standing commitment to help people with diabetes and other chronic diseases.Last year, she was honored with the Founders Award from the National Disease Research Interchange for her lifetime work in diabetes. She has also been awarded the Lifetime Commitment Award from JDRF and the 1999 Woman of Achievement Award from the Miss America Organization.
Ms. Loring is listed in the World Who’s Who of Women and Who’s Who in America. She is married to Emmy Award-winning art director and production designer, René Lagler.
