Greetings to All,
First and foremost, the ladies of the Beauty Shop Book Club wish to extend a sincere thank you to ALL of our family and friends, for their overwhelming support during our first year.
As promised, we've been busy. The visions of Tiercoria Myles (Tiggy) and Katrina McDonald (Trina) took us on a journey that we never could have imagined. Since our last update, we have hosted an additional five theme based book review meetings; CELEBRATED OUR 1st YEAR ANNIVERSARY @ LaGalleria,, as well as hosted our first open membership which blessed us with three additional members; sponsored several community/family & friends events to include a BSBC Family & Friends Bowling Night; a HIV/AIDS Youth/Community Health Awareness Seminar; co-sponsored a Relay for Life Silent Auction; partnered with the FIC for the 2007 Chesapeake Relay for Life; sponsored a BSBC Family & Friends Memorial Day Appreciation Cookout; BSBC Family & Friends Zoo Adventure (DC Zoo); BSBC Family & Friends Outdoor Adventure at Ocean Breeze followed by an Ice Cream Social for our young BSBC Family & Friend Supporters and, are looking forward to our upcoming book signing featuring New York best seller Author/Producer Donna Hill and Friends (The Bringing Sexy Back Tour) in July, 2007 to kickoff our promotion to increase literarcy/decrease illiteracy throughout our communities.
We anticipate the arrival of October to embark on our Anniversary Cruise; AHOY shipmates, the Ladies of BSBC are on their way!
As the year progresses, we have many untapped thoughts, ideas and, things yet to do. And of course, we will share those adventures with each of you and, look forward to your support.
We also look forward to a host of many more book reviews and book signings; volunteer and community partnership opportunities and, whatever paths we're guided towards for the betterment of our communities as well as ourselves. As always, we encourage youths and adults, far and wide, to form a reading group or book club among their family/friends or within their communities.
We also challenge our supporters (man/female, adult/youth) to incorporate reading at least 1/2-1 hour into their daily routine. IT'S TRULY AN AWESOME, REWARDING AND WORTHWHILE ADVENTURE!
With the addition of our three newest members, BSBC's current roster is composed of eighteen beautiful, talented Divas: Carla Abner, Thalia Artybridge, Robin Bagley, Nancy Christian, Toni Clairborne, Mattie Cousins, Tamara Dorsett, Tanya Garrett, Charlene Gabriel, LaSonya Jackson, Linda Johnson, D.
