If you have a weak heart this is not for you!!!The intention is to keep "the pulse" enjoying great vocals, sofisticated arrangements and incredible musicians with a clear invitation to dance.Mari Nobre the band leader is a young but very experienced singer who comes from a Jazz and Latin background and has worked with very well known names of the music business. After starting to sing and act as a child, Mari performed in her first European tour at the age of fourteen. One year later, she started her classical education attending for three years the Music Conservatory. At the same time, she studied jazz, soul and pop technique. She performed live for years with the most famous Italian and European singers as a solo artist as well as a background vocalist, alternating music with her TV and theatrical performances as an actress and a TV hostess. She was working for RCA in Milan on recording projects which appeared numerous times on the billboard. Two years later she moved to New York where she had her own band (Passion Latina) and she performed with several salsa and pop bands. She enriched her musical experience performing and learning from true legends of the Latin Jazz scene like Celia Cruz, Mario Rivera, Chico O..Farril, Dave Valentin, and many others. She also recorded in studio as a singer and as a songwriter. She also became a member of SAG and featured in many major movie productions. Mari sings in five languages: English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French, showing a great versatility and stage presence. She just came back from Brazil where she performed with very well known musicians who are currently touring with world known artists like Djavan, Sergio Mendes and Ivan Lins among the others. She recently moved to Los Angeles where she performs successfully with her Jazz and Latin Jazz quartet the E-Motion Band, featuring musicians of great talent and versatility like Mitchell Long at guitar, Leo Costa at drums and Leo Nobre at bass . Her need to challenge herself with new original musical ideas brought her to the creation of a new cd currently in preparation. Mari Nobre & the E-Motion band recently performed on air for the "WAVE Smooth Jazz radio". The E-Motion band is: Bass: Leo Nobre is also the musical director of the band. Leo has also been the bass player for Sergio Mendes..band for more than 5 years. Leo..s latest interview was recently published on Bass Player magazine. Leo Nobre performed on many TV shows including Jay Leno and in the most famous venues and Jazz Festivals all over the world. To name just a few: Umbria Jazz, NorthSea Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival, Montreaux Jazz Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival, S. Jose Jazz Festival, Cancun Jazz Festival, Copenaghen Jazz Festival etc... He recorded in 2006 the Grammy awarded CD Timeless produced by Black Eyed Pea which featured his incredible performances with Stevie Wonder, John Legend among the others. He recently toured with the international flamenco star Rafael Amargo.Drums:Leo Costa, very versatile drummer born in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He graduated from the famous Berkley University of Boston and moved to Los Angeles where he soon became one of the most requested musicians both in the R&B, Hip Hop world and the Jazz and Latin scene. He performed and recorded with very accredited artists, such as, Gloria Trevi, Olga Tanon, Eric Marienthal,Marcos Ariel, Weber Lago Trio, to name a few.Guitar: Mitchell Long, great virtuoso of guitar and vocals. He has recent articles published in Music Cultures of Latin America: Global Effects, Past and Present (UCLA Selected Reports in Ethnomusicology) and Women and Music in America Since 1900 (Greenwood Press) and has given presentations at various national and international conferences. His current scholarly activities include completing a book on Brazilian jazz. As a performer, Dr. Connell plays saxophone and clarinet in ensembles ranging from jazz to classical chamber music to Brazilian chorinho. He studied jazz improvisation and arranging with Ray Brown, clarinet with Rosario Mazzeo, Janet Averett, and Fred Ormand, and saxophone with Don Sinta. He has played with the Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Toledo (Ohio) Symphonies, and has appeared at the Monterey, Montreux–Detroit, and San Francisco jazz festivals, and the Spoleto Festival USA. In addition, Dr. Connell has performed with a wide range artists including Luciano Pavarotti, Dave Leibman, Lou Rawls, Mike Marshall, and Hermeto Pascoal, and has recorded for the Musical Heritage Society, Intrada, Adventure Music, Earthbeat! Traveler, and Acoustic Levitation labels. At James Madison University, Dr. Connell teaches courses in American music, the history of jazz, world music, and coaches small jazz ensembles.
