Selection ranges from the old to the new, with a preference for the foundation and the new roots section of reggae music.Skylarkin' played at various events like More Fire, Blaze it up!, One Drop Club, Westival, Jah Mek Ya, Irie Vibes Roots Festival (2003, 2005), Reggae Geel (2005, 2006) and SUMMERJAM (2005, Cologne, Germany) alongside many national and international live bands and soundsystems.Reading the Bob Marley biography by his mother Cedella Booker, I got introduced to the verb "to skylark", a typical Jamaican word to express the way of chillin' and relaxing in the green hills where the sun is shining and birds them singing... a term significant for mi lifestyle and values. Did nah need to vote, SKYLARKIN' SOUND was born, unevitably connected with the original Studio One classic by Horace "Sleepy" Andy. In this and other tunes, "Skylarking" is used in a pretty negative way, meaning the youths of today them begging and wailing instead of standing up firm on their feet. It's true that poor people nah have much time fi skylark because them haffi work very hard for little money, but still it is a daily part of jamaican way of living.
