YUNG KRAZ

About Me

Young Kraz is that rare artist that stands out above the rest. Repping Poughkeepsie, New York in the vein of artists before him that include Doug E. Fresh, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Camron, Mase and the legendary late Big L, Young Kraz is destined to be the next great lyricist for the new generation of fans. The albums title signifies not only a powerful voice emerging within the Hip Hop landscape, but a one-man movement that underlines Young Kraz no-nonsense approach to writing. "Loose Cannon the new movement," Kraz says. "I'm going to take it back, when the game was about Hip Hop - when it was about lyrics."Born in New Yorks Mt Vernon, Kraz recalls his earliest memories of music through his familys diverse record collection that included musical giants Barry White, Al Green and Prince. It was in 1997 while attending New York's High School of Art and Design that Jae Millz honed his lyrical abilities in the lunchroom, battling all comers. After taking his verbal ferocity out on the streets of Harlem, the 15-year-old emcee was noticed by Tupac Shakur's wife at the time, Keisha Morris, who introduced him to the well-connected forces behind Wanna Blow Entertainment. Soon after that pivotal moment, Kraz was soaking up game from some of raps biggest talents including P. Diddy, Lil Kim, Mysonne, and Mase, whom he credits with making an indelible impression on him...

Within two weeks of leaving Warner Bros., Wanna Blow had two deals on the table for Kraz. The team trying to go with Universal Records, and things have been moving toward the official release of the album. Kraz finds a symbolic connection in the new match up. "My style is the same as the label Im on universal. I could rap anywhere," he explains. "I have down South music, music for the ladies, music for people struggling, music for true Hip Hop lovers. In all honesty, Im a rappers rapper, and I make music for everybody, because at the end of the day Im human. I go through the same things that everybody else goes through."While Young Kraz represents the upstate hoods of New York on the Crown-produced anthem "845," he takes on a more universal theme with "Cold World," a track he made with underground beat phenom Emile. Reaching deeper into his arsenal of poetic thoughts, Kraz brings forth one for the ladies with "That Woman," which features songstress Denim. "I know everybody is expecting me to come with the average 'Oh baby I love you' track, but instead I'm sending some respect in every womans direction. Whether it be old or young, wives, baby mothers, daughters, sisters - whatever the case may be, I'm just pointing out the fact that we should all show a little respect to that woman. Its only right."Young Kraz Cool & Dre-produced single "I Like That/Stop" was featured on the 2006 soundtrack for the film Take The Lead. The Wanna Blow camp frequents Miamis trendy hot spots, and capturing that flavor was essential to Kraz. Another Miami icon, DJ Khaled, laced a thrashing bassline for "Live From Jerusalem," a lyrically fierce song that Jae describes as opening the door of a lions cage.Getting even more intense, Kraz shares his innermost thoughts on "Feel At The Moment," which he cites as his favorite track on the album. "I don't usually talk about my personal life too much, but this is one of those songs where I just let everything out. From family problems, to daily life problems, to relationship issues - I even address a couple issues with my father. To me this is the realest, most vivid track on the album."Making an album is comfortable - its like your diary," he continues. "You dont even have to talk some bullsh*t, you can talk what you go through. As much as people want to hear you talk some funny shit and floss and front, they want to know what you go through and know that youre human. They want to feel like youre on the same level as them. I try to put a lot of reality into my songs, and with this album I want people to understand that I can spit and I do the battles and freestyle and have fun, but I take my music very seriously."Young Kraz knows that his musical vision will continue to grow, and his business mind will benefit from his experiences. In the long run, he would like to see his label prosper and bring in new talent. "I want Wanna Blow to evolve into a really musical label," he explains. "Whatever it is, I just want to give people chances, because labels arent giving people chances these days - you need a cosigner. We dont need that now - we didnt have that and were still doing what we do.
