Little Cups of Grace

About Me

Formed in December 2006, Leicestershire 3-piece Little Cups of Grace are a band inspired by a plethora of artists and genres, culminating in a sound as unique as …..well.. nothing! The spine of ‘LCOG’s’ sound is Rock/Progressive/Alternative with vocals that smoulder and ignite into memorable anthemic choruses, tight backing harmonies and versatile rhythmic arrangements.
The band members are not strangers to band life, or each other. Having worked together in ‘Ungrateful Ninja’, ‘Orko’ and ‘Swurve’, Little Cups of Grace are united in their determination to gig hard, write clever and enjoy every note. Little Cups of Grace are: Alex, (Guitar and Vox), Dan (Drums) and Chris (Bass and Backing Vox).
Although they have only been LCOG for several months, the band has made exceptional progress. The band has dedicated much of their time to writing new material, and are eager to unleash all to unsuspecting ears throughout the UK. An enthusiastic and professional band, Little Cups of Grace have never cancelled a gig, and look forward to breaking hearts and guitar strings in a venue near you soon!
The name Little Cups of Grace was the brain child of Chris, having taken influence from this short story written by his own fair hand.
Grace, my grandmother, was a vibrant, wise and adventurous lady who deserved the very best life had to offer. Sadly however, people don’t always get what they deserve. Having spent her first 22 years living abroad in exotic places such as China, India and Singapore, Grace’s family finally settled down in England in 1949. Enter now my grandfather who, after marriage and one child, became mentally ill. Unable to walk or communicate, his so called life ended at the age of 71. A superb innings thanks to the doting selflessness of the now aging Grace. My grandfather now gone she could now put herself first . Although it became apparent that she couldn’t, the sadness of losing my grandfather or not used to being alone. I’m not sure, but she also began to lose grip with the reality around her, this unfortunately had her rapidly institutionalised. It was a speedy downward spiral. Eventually the wisdom, adventure and passion left her and she passed away alone.
After 81 years of life relayed to me through thousands of anecdotes, tears and laughter, her worldly possessions comprised of three battered bone china cups. No one knew she had them. It was the only possession she had taken to the nursing home, when I retrieved the cups it became apparent as to why. In each cup there was neatly rolled up scraps of paper standing proud of the rim of the cups, each scrap depicted a place she had promised herself to visit. Makes sense I suppose! She always had loved travelling it was in her blood. Those china cups not only represented her youth but also contained their future, her escape from the mundanely routine of life. But she could never put herself first, by the time she was able to do this it was too late.
Little Cups of Grace in every way.
Enjoy!
