About Me

We Live Thinking We'll Never Die... We'll Die Thinking We Never Lived... Cut It Out!' - Jason Becker
Hey, My name is Adam Ironside and I was born in 1987 which at the time of writing makes me 19. I grew up and still live in Sunderland which is an industrious city in the North East of Engalnd famous for its coal mining and ship building.
At around 16 i bought a guitar and styarted playing simple metallica licks and the like, as a new player does, and it wasnt until the following summer when a friend of mine showed me the G3 in Denver dvd that i became interested in technical guitar. After seeing Malmsteen play the way he does i was amazed and thought 'this is definitly what i want to do.'
So from that day on i began to take guitar more seriously and started to teach myself through books, internet, and instructional DVDs the way of the shred guitar. As i went about learning new techniques and ideas i came across more and more players whose albums i purchased but none of these would have the affect on me that Jason Becker did.
After hearing beckers fantastic music and tone and learning of his battle with ALS i decided to take my instrument as far as i could. I wanted to be able to compose and play like Becker and so i started teaching myself music theory.
Another big influence on me was Michael Angelo Batio. This guy is unreal, his technique and accuracy is second to none and his phenomenal speed and musicallity grabbed my ear straight away. I eventually started hanging around his forum where i became a moderator and met some really helpful people.
At this moment in time I am working on a short demo album and studying music at Shiney Row College with two great teachers (Gary Dunn and Tony Wilson) and intend to never give up music! I wanna be playing live when im in a wheel chair and i want to be buried with a guitar!

I like to make most of my music sound epic or storytelling. A lot of influence comes from classical music of all eras and styles. I like the way classical music can depict a vivid story stronger than any lyrics ever could. A prime example of this is Jason Becker's End Of The Beginning from his album Perspectives. Despite being my favourite piece of music of all time it tells a story that couldn't be expressed in a thousand pages of text.
However... i like a good old fashioned rocker too!
