About Me

Over the course of eight years, Andy Witmyer has been involved with a number of bands in the Altoona area, including (but not limited to): Rampart, PUNK, Hungry Saturn, The Tangerine Rabbit Inferno, and Like A Movie. He currently plays keyboards in The Electric Fence. Andy has been recording songs on his own for a few years now and, although he's releasing what may be viewed as his first solo album, The Daylight Astronomer is technically his third (there no plans to release the other two). For the last year or so, his music has been heavily influenced by the psychedelic noodlings of the legendary Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett, as well as the understated melancholy of the English singer-songwriter Nick Drake. He's also a fan of ancient balladry, folk, and late-60's/early-70's rock music. Andy recently finished The Daylight Astronomer and hopes to have it packaged and ready for sale in time for December. The album isn't radio-friendly, nor is it exactly an easy, breezy listening experience - but he never really had any intentions of writing it in any other way. It's a bleak, claustrophobic, moody album in the vein of The Madcap Laughs or Pink Moon - but distinctly his own. It is of his hope that at least a few people might enjoy it.
