After an absence of over 3 ½ years, Mars To Mercury is back on the Twin Cities rock map.
Mars To Mercury was formed in the summer of 2001, issued 1 full length album (Collide - 2003), as well as an EP (There’s Nothing Out There – 2004) under the name ModiFY, which the band briefly changed their name to before calling it quits in August 2005.
Mars To Mercury had a brief flirtation with Maverick Records in 2002, which resulted in the label picking up the tab for some studio time, but ultimately deciding not to sign the band. Over their 4 year existence, Mars To Mercury was tagged to open for national artists such as Michelle Branch, Lifehouse, King’s X, Bret Michaels, and Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, as well as performing at A Festival Of The Heart And Soul (Minneapolis), Taste Of Minnesota and RibFest (Minneapolis and Sioux Falls, SD) multiple times, and played many shows in various rock clubs in MN, IA, WI, IL, and SD.
In addition, Mars To Mercury landed five of their songs on the hit daytime drama, The Young & The Restless, was a Top 50 Qualifier in The American Music Awards® Presents The Coca-Cola New Music Award 2003 Competition, and played a showcase at MECA Music Conference & Festival in Chicago, IL in May 2004. July 2005 saw the band make their debut at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI.
Reforming at the end of 2008, Mars To Mercury is Lance Stevens (guitar, lead vocals), Krys Baratto (bass, backing vocals), and Sean Sauder (drums), now joined by Dave Roberts (guitars, backing vocals).
Stay tuned for new music and live shows in 2009.
