Music is the salve and the frosting. It heals wounds and makes things sweet and sticky. And every once in awhile, once in every generation, there comes a creative force that combines the gooey salve and the sweet and sticky icing to produce songs that explode into a million, zillion sparkling cds that circle the world. And before cds it was lps. And before that it was wax cylinders.Julian Lang isn't so pretentious as to suggest that he's a Hoagy Carmichael and John Phillip Sousa or Louis Armstrong or Frank Zappa or John Lennon. He just likes writing songs that say little things that may or may not have profound meaning. He likes creating sweet melodies with rhythmic blankets and pillow-like chords. He likes both telling stories and spouting gibberish, sometimes in the same song.He is a modern man, some say a bon vivant. He avoids all self adulation. He considers it silly. He sees things in his songs and performs them so as to share them with the woild.He's a river man. He's a doodler. He's a guitar noodler. He's loves a whole bunch of people, too. He's not crazy. He's an artist and writer and defender of the sacred lands. He's Native, he descends from the ancients and loves every minute of it. He needs 8 hours of sleep a night!
