In 1998, armed with only a 4 track recorder, a drum machine, a guitar, and a turntable, I started recording Beef Curtain songs. Influenced heavily by Ween's "The Pod" I was convinced I could make recordings with minimal gear, limited musical ability, and a sense of humor. The first few songs were pretty bad, but as I learned how to bounce tracks, and began using things besides music instruments to create sounds with, I began to create some entertaining, and weird recordings. These recordings then became the Beef Curtain s/t "Demo" CD, which was circulated to about 100 people.
A year or so later, I finally got into using a computer to record, and the possibilities for me became endless. The first official Beef Curtain song to be put on CD was recorded in Summer of 1999, and was called "Kiss A Good Man's Ass". Soon after, songs like "Dirty Birdy", "Sleeping Red Birdy", and "Oops, I smoked Crack Again" were recorded, and released along with 25 other songs on the debut CD "Avoir Le Diable Au Corps". This CD was released somewhat limited as well, maybe only getting out to about 300 or so people. I continue to print them on demand, when people are interested.
I've started working on new material, with long time collaborator Jared Emery. The new material will be the best yet, with Jared adding much more musical abilities, and his own demented Ideas, we are coming up with songs like "Shiny", which will be released this summer with other newly recorded and similar tracks.
Beef Curtain desperately needs to get into a live setting, and we need willing musicians to help us make it happen. Please contact if interested.
