About Me

I’m Tim Eccles. I sing and write songs. I play guitar, mandolin, hawaiian style slide guitar, banjo, clawhammer banjo and have even squeeked out ’Black Orpheus’ on a cello. I’ve been making music all my life. At different points new instruments have made themselves available to me. I started as singer and everything I played was originally an accompanyment instrument. The longer I played the more I found that the different instruments I play are all a part of my overall musical voice.I make music in a variety of styles. I am known mostly for Bluegrass but happily play blues! I’ll play swing, folk, Old Time - I’ll even play rock and pop if I am asked nicely!Currently, I play banjo, write songs and sing harmony with ’Story House’, a fine Vancouver area band and I am playing mandolin and singing some lead and harmony with the well known ’Five on a String’, another B.C. Bluegrass band. I was lead vocalist and guitar player for ’Great Northern’, an award winning alt-grass band from Vancouver from 1997-2005.Really, we should get together and jam!
