The Hizzaks (Zarven)

'The Hizzaks' are a modern instrumental ensemble led by Australian guitarist and composer Zarven Karakulahian. The ensemble performs exclusively its own compositions, drawing mainly on the Australian's music. The sound of 'The Hizzaks' is influenced by Karakulahian's time in Australia where he performed with a wide range of rock, pop, jazz and soul musicians. The Australian's wealth of experience as a performer, and the cross-cultural collaboration with Berlin-based musicians Peter Ehwald (Tenor Saxophone), Sebastian Vogel (E Bass) and Janis Görlich (Drums) has resulted in music with a unique character and strength.Strong rhythmic structures and grooves coupled with elegant melodies and complex yet transparent harmonies form the basis of the group's sound.
