Free2Fly live at Planet Music (Wien) Supporting The Sweet

FREE 2 FLY was formed as a cover band by Georg Marlovics in summer 2000. Due to the rapidly increasing amount of own ideas and songs, the character of the band changed successively towards an independent, self-contained rock band. A first success was the premiere of the single “In the Night” on 92.9 HIT FM in 2001.Over the following years the band toured through the club scene of Vienna and the rest of Austria. As highlights the gigs at the Vienna Donauinsel Festival, after all the biggest Open Air Festival in Europe, and several support gigs, amongst others for the Swiss Platinum Rockers GOTTHARD in the sold out Planet Music venue, can be mentioned.A special highlight are soever the unplugged gigs of FREE 2 FLY in small clubs, which always give a very special feeling to the fans.In 2003 a first 5-track-Demo was recorded, and in 2004 the band produced the single „Move the World“ for a charity project in the context of the United Nations World Food Program. In 2005 the second Demo Cd was recorded. Some of the songs are, in new versions, also included on the current Studio Album “12 Mile Zone”, which was finalised in August 2006. The previous development of the band was already accompanied by some interviews on local radio stations. The song “God Says”, in the then demo version, was played at the nationwide station FM4 in 2004. Likewise in 2004 the first TV interview on the local channel Pulse TV took place.The line up of “12 Mile Zone” exists since January 2005, and in Autumn 2006 Georg Marlovics came back into the band as second Guitarrist. In Spring 2007 Rene Langhans decided to go out from the band due to professional reasons and was substituted by Sergio Tallo. At this time Free2Fly works in their second study album "Shifting Gear" expected for the februar of 2009.

FREE 2 FLY wurde im Sommer 2000 von Georg Marlovics als Coverband gegründet. Diese Phase dauerte allerdings nicht lang, da sukzessive immer mehr Eigenkompositionen entstanden, die den Charakter der Band bald in Richtung eigenständige Melodic Rock Band wandelten. Ein erster Erfolg war die Premiere der Single 'In the Night' auf 92.9 HIT FM im Jahr 2001.
Im Lauf der folgenden Jahre spielte sich die Band durch die Lokalszene von Wien und tourte durch den Rest von Österreich. Höhepunkte waren dabei fünf mal Donauinselfest, immerhin das größte Open Air Festival Europas, und diverse Support-Gigs, unter anderem für die Schweizer Platin-Rocker Gotthard im ausverkauften Planet Music. Ein besonderes Hightlight sind aber auch die Gigs in kleineren Clubs, bei denen FREE 2 FLY mit Unplugged-Versionen ihrer Songs für Gänsehaut Stimmung sorgen.
2003 erschien ein erstes 5-Track-Demo, und 2004 wurde für ein Charity Projekt im Rahmen des WORLD FOOD PROGRAM der Vereinten Nationen der Song 'Move the World' als Single produziert. 2005 erschien das zweite Demo mit 6 bereits sehr hochwertigen Songs, die zum Teil in neuen, perfektionierten Versionen auch auf dem aktuellen Studioalbum '12 Mile Zone', das im August 2006 fertig gestellt wurde, zu hören ist.
Die bisherige Bandentwicklung war bereits von diversen Radiointerviews bei lokalen Sendern begleitet. Der Track 'God Says' wurde bereits 2004 in der damaligen Demo Version auf FM4 gespielt. Ebenfalls 2004 bestritt die Band bei PULS TV ihr erstes Fernseh Interview. Nach diesen ersten Jahren, in denen FREE 2 FLY bereits einiges erreicht, sich aber hauptsächlich sowohl musikalisch also auch organisatorisch enorm weiterentwickelt hat, steht seit Mai 2007 nun die aktuelle Besetzung.Das Lineup zeichnet sich durch perfektes Zusammenspiel der Mitglieder auf musikalischer und persönlicher Ebene, durch 100%igen Einsatz und vollste Überzeugung aus.

Free2fly nació en el verano de 2000 inicialmente como banda de versiones. Debido al rápido incremento de ideas y canciones propias, el carácter del grupo cambio radicalmente hacia una banda de rock con canciones propias en el que desde un principio se inclinaba hacia el HardRock melodico. El primer éxito vino con la presentación del single “In the night” en la emisora 92.9 HIT FM en 2001.
Durante los años venideros la banda ha tocado en la escena de clubs de Viena y el resto de Austria. Sus conciertos más remarcables han sido en el Vienna Donauinsel Festival, el festival al aire libre más grande de Europa, y muchos conciertos teloneando a grandes bandas, por mencionar alguno, Gotthard en Planet Music (Viena).
También es destacable la gran cantidad de conciertos acústicos que Free2Fly ofrece en pequeños clubs, que siempre ofrecen un feeling especial para los fans.
En 2003 graban una primera demo de 5 cortes y en 2004 el grupo produce el single “Move the world” para un proyecto benéfico dentro del Programa de alimentos de Naciones Unidas. En 2005 se graba la segunda demo.
El desarrollo de la banda se complementa con entrevistas en radios locales. La canción “god says”, la versión de la demo, sonó varias veces en la cadena de radio nacional FM4 en 2004. Además en 2004 fue su primera entrevista en televisión, en la cadena local Pulse TV.
Algunas de las canciones, en nuevas versiones, son incluidas también en el último álbum de estudio “12 mile zone”, grabado en Agosto de 2006 y totalmente autoproducido.
En 2007 se produce la entrada al grupo como guitarrista de Georg Marlovics, antiguo componente de Free2fly en sus inicios. Tambien René Langhans deja el grupo en Abril de 2006 siendo sustituido por el español Sergio Tallo. En verano de 2007 Bernhard Fürst decide dejar el grupo. Tambien durante el verano se decide incorporar a Barbara Slechta “Babsi” como segunda voz para enriquecer las armonias vocales, muy importantes en esta nueva etapa del grupo.
En la actualidad Free2Fly se encuentra trabajando en la composición de su segundo álbum de estudio para el que todavía no hay fecha de edición.
