Music means different things to different people. There is so much to hear in a song: the beat, the soul, the lyrics, the instruments, the solos… Music lifts us up and carries us away, it makes us smile and makes us dance. In recognition of this diversity, theGreatScott was formed. Jason Mallare, Eric Gorman, John Rosso and Patrick Jenkins came together because they love music and and they want to share it with anyone who will listen. With its energetic performances and its natural stage presence, theGreatScott puts on shows that “wow” and captivate an audience. TheGreatScott can entertain an audience all night and leave them asking “When’s the next show?!” But beyond its energy, theGreatScott yields creative and skillful song writing with soulful and unique playing styles that fit comfortably in one’s living room.
Each member brings his own piece to the table; Jason Mallare is the front man. He plays keys and the occasional guitar. Jason is deeply rooted in classic singers and performers like Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Michael Jackson. He will listen to any music that is placed in front of him. Eric Gorman plays electric and acoustic guitars as well as the occasional mandolin. Eric has been greatly influenced by many musicians from SRV to The Mars Volta. Eric loves any music that he can “feel”. John Rosso plays the drums. He has a unique playing style with endless creative energy. Rosso is heavily influenced by Dave Mathews Band, Incubus and the Chili Peppers.
Eric and Jason met in high school and began writing songs together. Eric and John Rosso were also high school friends, and they occasionally played together, most notably in Severna Park High School’s Rock and Roll Revival. theGreatScott was formed.
theGreatScott is a musical force to be reckoned with, and will stop at nothing until their music is heard by all. The band has recently finished recording the ten-track 'Fire in His Soul', which can be bought at any show or from www.CDBaby.com!
