Afet has been dancing snce the age of 5 and is currently in her 31st year of teaching. She has studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Gymnastics, Tahitian, Hawaiian,Spanish, Flamenco, and Middle Eastern. Afet performs at both the local and national level and has studied with dancers like Morocco (NY), Ibrahim Farrah (NY), Nadia Hamdi (Egypt), Amaya (NM), Dahlena (AZ), Suhaila Salimpour (CA), and many more. She currently teaches at Desert Divas Design & Dance in Tampa Fl and is available for group and private lessons.
The Dancers of the Desert Sun currently perform around the state of Florida at events such as the FL State Fair, Fiesta Day in Ybor city, Festival on the Nile in Orlando, and Raqs Adunya Global Dance Festival in Gainesville. The troupe consists of levels ranging from Beginning to Advanced and includes a Childrens troupe. The troupe as well as individual professional dancers are available for Banquets, Conventions, Theme Parties, Wedding Receptions, Club Engagements, Bellygrams, Seminars, and Workshops.
