Keri Anne has been singing and into music (and she knows its cliché but it’s the truth) for as long as she can remember. Even as a baby her mom said, “If she was upset or fussy, I would sit her in front the T.V. to watch a music concert or music videos and she would be mesmerized for hoursâ€. She always grew up with music 24/7 since her father himself is a singer. She can’t remember a time without him singing to her a song (and all the harmony parts, which she has a habit to do as well now) or having her listen to a certain song on the nearest radio. Keri Anne says she thanks her dad for that because he opened her up to love so many different genres from such a young age. She thinks its one of the reasons why she grew up with such a “good ear†and why she is known for picking up a tune or harmony really fast. Her friends are known to call her crazy at times since she has been caught on many occasions singing something back just after hearing it for a split second. In a perfect world that memory ability would have come in handy in class and studying, but of course it didn’t.
Keri Anne was always big on learning stuff by ear and can remember playing songs over and over again on her boom box in her room for hours until she got every part right. She would do this so often that her parents would have to buy her new cassette tapes (yes, she said cassette tapes) of her favorite artists again, every year, for Christmas because she wore the tapes out so much. Of course growing up she was that child that was in the chorus, band, drama class, and spring musicals but it wasn’t until College where she began to realize she may have something and began to even learn how to sight read in her classes. She ended up attending SUNY Oneonta as a Music Industry major and took advantage of the big music scene around and on campus.
In college, besides going to class like every college student should do, she began to get involved in a lot. A bunch of people over the years asked her to join certain groups and by the time graduation came she was in Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Hooked on Tonics A cappella, as well as various bands and groups (rock, pop, blues, classic rock and folk/acoustic) and was also involved with the theatre productions and operas. There wasn’t a music club or show that Keri Anne wasn’t involved in or helped with.
Now home in NYC for almost 4 years she continues to write her songs with her close friends Josh and Becky every chance she gets. She is currently looking for a new cover band to join. On the side she would also love to find some gigs to perform the original songs she has written with her friends. If you may be venue that is interested, please leave me, I mean her, a message through this page (You have to admit I got pretty far with the whole 3rd person thing haha).
