In June of 2006, bassist, Dan, wanted to create a rock band to display his musical talent. So he asked his friend, lead guitarist, T.J., to help him create a new band. In only a few months they managed to rangle up some friends with musical ability who wanted to participate in the band. T.J. had already written a few songs for the band (a few of which are in their first album), but the hardest part was naming the band.
Hours and hours was spent thinking of a name, until Dan's father said 'Blue Sapphire'. Liking the name, they decided to keep it. Months later, bassist, Max, claimed that the name 'Blue Sapphire' needed to be changed for obvious reasons. He then suggested the name 'OBViOUS' because he thought it sounded cool, it was short, sweet, and obviously to the point. Three days passed and 'Blue Sapphire' was officially 'OBViOUS".
