Cool For August was a rock band consisting of Andrew Shives on bass, Gordan Vaughn on vocals, Trevor Kustibak on guitar, and Shane Hills on drums.
Cool for August formed in Los Angeles in 1993 when L.A. scene vet Gordon Vaughn first teamed with Canadian expatriate guitarist Trevor Kustiak and drummer Shane Hills. After the addition of Maryland native Andrew Shives on bass, the group soon cut a demo tape, but fended off label interest until signing to Warner Bros. in 1995.
A move to Atlanta followed to record Cool for August's 1997 debut Grand World, an album featuring guest appearances by onetime American Music Club members Mark Eitzel and Bruce Kaphan .
Cool For August hit the public consciousness and the airwaves in 1997. The album spawned one Top 10 and two Top 15's. Two Top 20 Rock Radio hits, "Don't Wanna Be Here" and "Walk Away", wowed critics and audiences alike.
They made their television debut on Conan O'Brien with their hit song "Trials". While it wasn't their highest-charting single, "Walk Away" was considered their most accessible song and received its own single in stores.
After the release of Grand World, the band embarked on over a year of steady touring, including a total of four months supporting Matchbox Twenty and a month and a half supporting Creed.
The band resurfaced a few years later in 2001 (after long speculation that the band had broken up) with an online single "Say it isn't So".
The band completed a demo of six songs (engineered by Jeff Tomei . produced by Matt Serletic), about half of an anticipated upcoming album. However, with no more support from Warner Brothers or any other major labels, the band called it quits.
