WHO IS D.G.O.?
Dee Dee, the title of CD to be included somewhere “Chronicles of A Super Starâ€
Don’t call him a rapper, he’s a musician, he uses his voice as aninstrument…
He’s a J.E.R.K.!
He’s not a Hip-Hoppa; that minimizes him; putting him in a Hip-Hop box…
He’s a J.E.R.K.!
He’s not like any other regurgitated manure you have heard before…
He’s a J.E.R.K.!
Who is this J.E.R.K. we are talking about? None other than D.G.O, who can tell youhe’s Da Great One…a J.E.R.K. which stands for Junior Educated Rich Kid. J.E.R.K.is a movement! J.E.R.K. lets others know we ain’t into being labeled, we ain’tgangsta’s, we ain’t thugs, we ain’t what society want us to conform to. J.E.R.K.’srepresent the uncommon of the world! And behind this movement is D.G.O. from thewest side of Chicago, IL with all his wise 24 years. D.G.O.’s demeanor is silent, calm, yet steadfast and strong about not only making an imprint in the musicindustry but an impact on this world.
One would think after hearing or meeting this young man he has been listening andstudying Hip-Hop all his life yet he never had a radio in his house that receivedgood reception of Hip-Hop music and was raised on the old school soul music ofJames Brown, Frankie Lymon, Marvin Gaye, and the Temptations. When he did payattention to Hip-Hop music, the very day he remembers so vividly, was when hefirst heard Tupac’s Dear Mama. At that moment, he started writing and hasn’tstopped since. And you can feel his enthusiasm in his lyrics; touching youreardrum; drawing you in; evoking everything from dance music to the songsspecifically for the ladies to the social commentary of police brutality. D.G.O.says it’s just the way he arranges things, composing his words, creating from aspiritual and artistic level; where he recreates the feelings of the old school –the era that created Hip-Hop. It’s true, when you hear the single (?) – “All IThink About Is You†– it takes you to street corner harmonizing with a melodic rapstyle over a soulful groove track. It is also evident in “Get On The Floorâ€(Freak Somebody), which is a Chicago style juke house beat with a Texas type screwand copy rap flow. And D.G.O. gives you his unique sound in the fresh cut “Am IGon’ Be Ok, Cause I’m Gon’ Be Alright†which is too different to describe. Theproducers D.G.O. chose to work with are part of the JERK movement: High RockEntertainment ( One Track & Joey Casanova), Milwaukee Black and Kae Swole. Theblending of their sounds with D.G.O.’s musical styles builds the resonance of realsoul!
D.G.O.’s passion is driven from the inspiration of his life, and his grandmother, who recently passed. She was a true matriarch of the family who would snap andslap the hell out of him but it wasn’t to just make him a stronger man but to makesure he got?Tit his music out; never criticizing his hopes or dreams. He lives byher words – “Hanging around the creek will make you fall in.†Of which atdifferent points in his life gives new meaning and refreshes the next steps hetakes. When he heard the quote at a young age, it was a warning about the peoplehe hangs around could pull him in to what they do. Now his interpretation is beingaround people that he can benefit from while building a relationship to breakbread.
Being in D.G.O.’s presence from his thought process of wanting to keep achievingmentally, to his musical talent, you can sense this is only the beginning of whatis yet to come. Currently, D.G.O. is taking classes to do sign language so he canprepare to perform for the deaf. His decision was based on a dream he had; againproving he’s taking things to the next level, doing things with a spiritual stateof mind or powering up as D.G.O. calls it. And as determined and passionate asD.G.O. is, don’t put it pass him to be the definition of change to the musicindustry – why? Because he’s a JERK!!!
