About Me

They have been friends for as long as they can remember and have been Djing together for years. Their first real taste of dance music came from Newcastle's once premier club Foundation, this is where they developed through genres as diverse as trance, house and techno. As their tastes matured they were sold by Shindig, which was, for several years (and often still is) their second home on a Saturday night. This is were they saw the likes of, Sasha, John Digweed, Steve Lawler, Carl Cox, Danny Howells, John Carter and Nic Fanciulli. The influence of those and so many more dj’s has contributed to the way they have grown musically and what they play today. In the summer of 2005 Nicky left for Ibiza were he worked for the summer leaving Paul to slum it back in the UK!! This was when their sound was really influenced. While working over there Nicky regularly played at beach bars Savannah's, Kanya, Bar M and more frequently Orange Corner with Paul also coming over and joining him to play at these venues whilst on holiday. When Nicky introduced Paul to DC10 he could see why his musical taste had suddenly changed so much, they were both instantly taken over with this sound of groovy glitchy house and techno, this combined with Cocoon has paved the way for what they play today. From this point on they have been influenced by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos,Dan Ghenacia, Damian Lazarus, Marc Ashken, Jamie Jones, Matthew Dear, Loco Dice, Sven Vath, Matt Tolfrey to name but a few. Nicky & Paul are also inspired by the music played at clubs such as Fabric and The End and events such as Newcastle’s own Wax:on and Pressure in Glasgow.Along with several one-off events around the North-East and regular Pre-party sets for 'Error' (Newcastle's only event solely dedicated to minimal/techno), Nicky & Paul have played at Stealth vs Rescued in Nottingham where they warmed up for Matt Tolfrey for his Leftroom Records Album Launch party. They have also played several times in room 2 of 'super club' Digital in Newcastle (voted 15th best club in the world 2006 by dj's in Dj magazine) for 'Evolve', including the 1st Birthday with John OO Fleming, Matt Hardwick and John Askew playing in the main room. Towards the end of 2007 nicky and Paul organised their own event 'Maximal' at Worldheadquarters (Newcastle)which was a success. They have also been made residents for 'Exhibit A' which started out as a workers party in Ibiza in 2007 and has set up home in Newcastle in early 2008. Following on from this Nicky and Paul will continue to work hard to push their sound more in Newcastle and also further a field in the UK.
