the band dark minion was formed in the summer of '92 and called calgary,alberta,canada home.the orginal line up,whose averge age was 17 years old, consisted of brent morrison on lead vocals,dan friesen on rhythm guitar and vocals,toby d. schultz on lead guitar,dave caswell on bass guitar,and corey chernesky on drums.in the early days the band spent hours jamming at a close friend's house working on developing their sound and style.the hard work paid off.shortly after their forming they were offered a one week gig at the old franky and johnny's opening up for two local bands revile and threshold of pain.during that week the band also had the distinct pleasure of opening up for the lengendary disciples of power.shortly after the gig dark minion went into the studio to record a 5 song ep entitled human suffering.with a brand new recording under their arms and band merchandise the band started heavily gigging in and around the calgary scene.it didn't take long for the band to start a buzz in the area playing shows at the local university.more shows,more merchandise and more fans was the status quo for this band that was gathering momentum quickly.after re-locating their rehearsal digs over to brent's house the guys would go to school during the day and afterwards go to brent's to work on new material for the up-coming full length album.in april of '94 dark minion entered sundae sound studio's with producer krisjian leslie at the helm.the full length album that contained nine new songs was recorded in two days and was touted as being a big step up from their previous studio effort.with the release of a new album on the horizon and a record release show to promote the new album the band suffered a set back when original drummer corey chernesky decided to leave the band.although never formal the drummer cited personal differences and went on to form a new death metal band decimation.while the loss of the drummer slowed dark minion down it didn't take them long to find a replacement in ryan griffis.his style of drumming was a good match for the future material to be recorded by the band._p
