About Me

There are those who are convinced that the days for a guitar-soaked rock band with a penchant for pop, melodies and non-weirdness are a long gone and they are routinely left collecting dust and filed under "Yawn." But such an analysis omits one vital element from the equation: times will and always do change. And given our dark current state of affairs, maybe it's something we just might need. Marvel knows their pop history and aren't afraid to wash their hands in it until the past 40 years of music hits the bottom and acquiesces, lured and converted by the most unconcerned approach to their delivery of great pop songs since their obvious influences of Britpop and the Rolling Stones had their day. Marvel are pop craftsmen in the classic tradition and are masters of their trade. Their biggest critique would seem self-evident: how much they seem to borrow liberally from their rock heroes. From attitude to melodies to drink preference. But upon meeting them, one will see they are the real deal. They are robust. They are arrogant. They are funny. They want it all. And they write great songs for a band in their infancy that may soon poise us on the verge of a musical resurrection.
